On February 24th, 2022, Russian launched a full scale invasion of Ukraine. On the first anniversary of the start of a conflict that is still affecting so many of us to this day, we wanted to offer support to Ukrainians who have moved to Southend and surrounding areas as a result of the war.
We hosted a coffee morning, went to Porters Civic House where the Mayor gave a heartfelt speech and raised the Ukrainian flag, then we joined the demonstration on Southend High Street. We are honoured to have the opportunity to help and support such a wonderful group of people. Their inner-strength in the face of adversity is awe-inspiring.
We would like to say a special thanks to the many hosts, who have opened their homes to Ukrainians for almost a year now. We would also like to thank you to Southend-on-Sea City Council and their Resettlement Team for their continued and invaluable support.
