The winter really came to Southend in style! We would like to thank the Salvation Army Southend again for their generous donation of gloves and hats of all colour and sizes, which helped our members stay warm all through the winter.
5th of December
We were invited to the Beecroft Gallery for a Volunteer Certificate Award Ceremony. 14 of our members volunteered for Southend Museums in October and November this year, they gained new skills, met new people and tried something new! This project was a great way for everyone to find out more about the local history of Southend; seeing and handling real artefacts found in the Thames Estuary!
We would like to again extend our thanks Southend Museums for offering us this unique opportunity, and we look forward to collaborating again in the near future.
Our friendship group in Grays we had a visit from Bill Sparks, who is a community
engagement officer for Thurrock Council.
We chatted about adult safeguarding, personal safety and how to report a crime to police when needed.
We also had several requests for advice regarding specific problems and Bill was able to advise how to report these also.
During our second part of the friendship group session, we carried on with the multiply fund work . We learned about numbers & measurements for our chosen cooking recipes
