We are delighted to have started Refugee Week with a joyful and meaningful celebration under this year’s theme: “Many Cultures, One Community.”
Our ESOL classes came together for a beautiful day of sharing, connection, and celebration. Learners brought traditional foods from their home countries, wore their cultural clothing with pride, and enjoyed music from around the world-creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with colour, warmth, and togetherness.
Throughout the day, we also took part in a variety of fun and engaging Refugee Week activities, including:
“Guess the Flag”
“Traditional Clothing Match”
Friendship Bingo
…and many more interactive games that brought laughter, learning, and connection.
One of the most meaningful highlights was our Welcome Tree , where participants shared what makes them feel welcome. Words such as smile, friendship, community, and kindness were repeated again and again-powerful reminders of what truly brings us together.
We also warmly invite everyone to our Friendship Group celebration:
Southend Office
Friday | 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
This will be a special new celebration event for our Friendship Group-come along, celebrate with us, meet new people, and enjoy a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
It was a wonderful start to Refugee Week, celebrating diversity, strengthening friendships, and building our shared sense of community.
